Ballet Russes
This curved arbour of Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria) was planted by Breen Snr in the 1970s. The trees turn a striking russet (bronze, reddish brown) in winter, and seem almost to dance and spin like ballerinas in the arc where they stand. Both Tom Breen (Snr) and Charlotte had a connection to the Ballet Russe when this international ballet company visited Sydney in the 1940s. Some of the dancers also quite separately visited Mount Wilson at the time.
