Cypress Meadow
This part of Breenhold is adjacent to The Avenue and is shielded from it by a line of closely planted golden cypresses (Cupressus Aurea). The foliage of these evergreen trees turns to a beautiful yellow-golden colour in Spring. The “Meadow” is a sweeping lawn over 300 metres in length, stretching to the northern boundary of Breenhold. At its southern end is a lone “Colorado” Blue Spruce, a native of North America. The tree was damaged, with a section of it missing, when a nearby pine tree was blown over onto it in a severe windstorm. Rather than cut it down, it has been left as an example of “damaged beauty”. It is still beautiful.
